Advocacy Services
24-hour Crisis Hotline Purpose is to:
- Call the SAFECENTER staff "into action" when a sexual assault crime has taken place.
- Support a victim who may be in an emotional crisis as a result of sexual assault.
- Provide callers with information about Safe Haven and community referrals.
Accompaniment
An Advocate supports the victim through the initial interview and the medical evidentiary exam, and remains a support person whether or not the victim decides to press criminal charges.
For the victim who decides not to press criminal charges, the advocate will provide support to the victim through the recovery process.
For the victim who does choose to press criminal charges, the advocate will provide support during the investigation and prosecution. Support is available for as long as it takes a case to move through the criminal justice system and/or the healing process.
Case Management
Advocates assist victims in gaining information about community resources that are available. Advocates also review a victim's need for other Safe Haven Center services -- such as therapy -- and recommend them when appropriate.
All Safe Haven Center services are confidential and free of charge .
