According to Tennessee Law TCA 37-1-602 child sexual abuse is the employment, use, persuasion, inducement, enticement or coercion of any child to engage in, or assist any other person to engage in, any sexually explicit conduct or simulation of such conduct for the purpose of rape, visual displays or other forms of exploitation or incest with children.

The law interpreted

Sexual abuse involves forcing, tricking, bribing, threatening, grooming, or pressuring a child into sexual awareness or activity. Sexual abuse can include physical, verbal or emotional elements such as:

  • Sexual touching, fondling and any form of penetration
  • Exposing children to adult sexual activity or pornographic movies and/or photographs
  • Having children pose, undress or perform in a sexual manner on film or in person
  • "Peeping" into bathrooms or bedrooms to spy on a child
  • Rape or attempted rape of a child
